Auditing, WoW, and You

How is auditing like World of Warcraft?  Let me count the ways –
Level 85 – CEO of a big 4 firm
Level 75 – Office managing partner
Level 70 – Local, nondistinctive partners
Level 55 newly-minted death knights – Managers (and WAY too overpowered for their level, if I do say so myself)
Level 15 – Me.  I can kill dragons, but only the baby ones.  (But those dragons in Lakeshire still wipe me out on occasion.)

Tragedy in Japan

I am sure you have seen the coverage of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan.  Here, a depiction of mourning -

I couldn't have said it any better myself.  Please pray for the Japanese and help out any way you can.

Cartoons as art

I really, really love political cartoons as an art form.  Just something about the way they make a succinct, heavy-hitting point – it’s as close to instant communication as you can get.  I enjoy the way one can almost physically strike with poignancy …

Or make you laugh in an instant …

Take the first one – I love how all our political worries and gripes (both serious and silly) just pale in comparison to their sacrifice.  Always worth remembering – in all things, a dash of perspective.
And now take the second one – I don’t know about where you live, but here in Alaska, winter driving is MUCH smoother than summer driving.  Except for the lack of any sort of traction on the road in winter.  But that’s a mere technicality!  /wink  You just kinda learn to manage the glide, if you’re like me and too lazy to switch over to your winter tires.
In sum, I <3 political cartoons.  I will probably be using a lot of them.

Project 6 is now is session!

So I decided several months ago that I was sick and tired of being a size 14, and that I wanted to do what I could to get back to my previous size – size 6.  Project 6.  (Get it?  Haha.)  So I worked really hard, stayed hungry all the time, and got down to a size 10.  Then I started drowning at work, and my motivation went out the window.  But now – my family is going to be moving from Alaska to Chicago in a few months …. and we can’t afford to take more than a carful of stuff with us.  So that means, if I can’t get back to the size I want to be within 2 months (I’ve given myself a deadline – hope it will light a fire under me), I will finally lay all my cute size 6 clothes to rest donate all my cute size 6 clothes to the womens’ shelter or some such.  It will be very sad if that has to happen; I may even wear black for a bit in mourning.
But for right now – I’m thinking positive thoughts.  The ever-so-congenial Ms. Jillian Michaels never fails to kick my butt with her more-difficult-than-it-looks workouts.  Am I the only one that actually enjoys the post-workout soreness?  Makes me feel like I’m making progress.
Project 6 is now in session!  Wish me luck!

A brief introduction ....

Hello!  So just to introduce this blog, I'll be writing about whatever comes to mind, be that auditing, World of Warcraft, auditing AND World of Warcraft, politics, science fiction, parenthood, marriage ... anything is up for grabs, really.

Looking forward to it!
